Our Mission
At Words We Trust, we are stewards of effective communication. Our Social Responsibility Goals
- Goal 1: Quality education (SDG 4). We actively support inclusive learning by offering pro bono translation to educational organizations. Our work—including support for Education in Emergencies (EiE)—empowers institutions to reach diverse communities.
- Goal 2: Gender equality (SDG 5). As a Woman-Led Business, we prioritize partnerships with non-profits focused on women’s rights and actively uplift other women-led initiatives in our supply chain.
- Goal 3: Decent work (SDG 8). We commit to fair and transparent labor practices, ensuring that our specialized translators are compensated fairly for their expertise, upholding professional standards in the global language sector.
- Goal 4: Reduced inequalities (SDG 10). By removing linguistic barriers, we ensure that language is never an obstacle to accessing services, rights, or information, regardless of a population’s linguistic background.
- Goal 5: Peace & Justice (SDG 16). We support the rule of law by providing accurate, culturally sensitive legal translations that enable individuals to understand due process and exercise their rights.
Our Environmental Goals
- Goal 1: Climate action (SDG 13). We commit to combatting climate change by choosing a green web hosting provider. We have further minimized our carbon footprint by transitioning to digital-first workflows, significantly reducing our paper consumption and transportation-related emissions.
- Goal 2: Low-Carbon Operations (SDG 7 & 13). We commit to responsible energy consumption by operating on France’s national grid, one of the most decarbonized in the world. Our provider, EDF, is a global leader in low-carbon electricity production (nuclear and renewables), ensuring that our digital infrastructure is powered by an energy mix that is over 90% CO2-free.
- Goal 3: Responsible consumption and production (SDG 12). We commit to sustainable operations by minimizing waste (digital workflows, recycling) and prioritizing responsible sourcing. Our partners share our environmental values, including recycled materials and B Corp certifications.

Our Pro Bono Commitment
At Words We Trust, PRo Bono is a deliberate, bounded part of how we operate.
We allocate approximately 5% of our annual working capacity to organizations whose work advances the Sustainable Development Goals — particularly in human rights, access to justice, gender equity, and humanitarian response. That translates to over 1.5 million words donated to date.
We are selective by design. Pro bono work receives the same standard of care as any paid engagement, the same terminology rigour, the same institutional register, the same revision process. Which means we cannot take on unlimited requests, and we don’t pretend otherwise.
If your organization works in alignment with the SDGs and needs English-to-French translation you cannot currently fund, we invite you to reach out. We will be honest about our availability and whether the fit is right.
Language should not be a barrier to impact. When we can remove it, we will.
